Much credit will be given to Thiem though as he gave Nadal a good fight for the title even though still very young in his career.

Nadal has now leapfrogged Roger Federer to the fourth position and will be in an inspired mood as he attempts to clinch his 10th French Open title next month.

The ‘King of Clay’ has also tied Novak Djokovic on 30 Masters Series titles won.
