The English FA has instituted a new prize for misconduct by managers and coaches this coming season.
Premier League coaches will now receive red and yellow cards for any misconduct in the technical area this season except for the FA Cup, Football League, EFL Cup, EFL Trophy and National League where they will only be shown cards.
According to the announcement, accumulating cautions will lead to various suspensions. Also four bookings will warrant a one-match ban while 16 bookings will result to a misconduct charge.
Cards can be issued for actions including inappropriate language or gestures towards match officials, kicking or throwing water bottles, sarcastic clapping and waving imaginary cards.
This season will also see the introduction on competition-specific suspensions for players, rather than cautions carrying across multiple competitions.
Last season, top coaches like Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho were sent to the stands after expressing unhappiness at certain refereeing decisions which didn’t go their way during one of their matches.
Hear that coaches! No more warning before sending off!
