The NFF has confirmed the appointment of Joseph Yobo as the new assistant coach of the Super Eagles, who replaces Imama Amapakabo who parted ways with national team.
Yobo, a former Super Eagles Captain and captained the national team to the African Cup of Nationals back in 2013, would now assist head coach, Gernot Rohr.
“The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed former Super Eagles’ defender and captain Joseph Yobo as assistant coach of the team. He replaces Imama Amapakabo in the three -ime African champions’ technical crew,” an NFF statement read.
The 39-year-old represented Nigeria in six Africa Cup of Nations finals – 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2013, leading the team to glory in 2013 in South Africa where the Super Eagles under the late Stephen Keshi conquered the continent for the third time.
