A news presenter on local network Gotel Television from north-eastern Nigerian, Amina Yuguda has won the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award.
Amina, who reported high-profile news stories which include the Boko Haram Insurgency in Nigeria described her win as a “Huge Honour.”
She said “I was overwhelmed with joy. Storytellers have always had an important role in Africa… This is what defines us.

Today journalists are taking on that responsibility.”
The award was established to honour Komla Dumor, a presenter for BBC World News, who died suddenly at the age of 41 in 2014.
