The ex-minister, Musiliu Obanikoro is yet to regain freedom after turning himself in to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC earlier this week.
As at Thursday evening, it was gathered that, terms have not been reached between the Commission and Obanikoro.
Sources close to the ex-minister have stated that, he has divulged useful information to the Commission since his willful surrender to the anti-graft agency, “But it seems they just want him to cool off there for a while.”
The ex-minister who is accused of being awarded government contracts in the sum of N4.7bn in the names of his sons, Gbolahan and Jide, which were unexecuted, and also alleged to have been involved in the Ekiti 2015 and Osun State 2014 election scandal, had mentioned the name of current serving governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose and Iyiola Omisore (the 2014 PDP candidate in Osun State) in connection with the election fraud allegations.
The ex-minister who defended the allegations against him, stated the role he played in the said election. According to sources, Obanikoro stated that he helped the candidates coordinate money from Abuja.
Governor Fayose has refuted the allegations of Obanikoro, stating that obanikoro had been compromised. While Iyiola Omisore had admitted receiving money through Obanikoro.
Premium Times sources revealed that Mr. Omisore handed over the said amount received, to the government over the past three months.
