On this episode, award-winning director Kemi Adetiba joins Soliat in the kitchen to make Akara burger and if you’d like to try out, you can find the recipe below:
Ingredients:
-Honey Beans
-Onions
-Pepper
-Tomato
-Ginger
-Seasoning Cubes
-Roasted Green Pepper
-Lettuce
-Salt
How To Make Akara:
-Soak the honey beans for about 30 minutes or till the skin is swollen
-Peel off the beans with your hands or use a blender and pulse a couple of times to split the beans
-Blend the peeled beans with onions and pepper until a smooth and thick batter is formed.
-Whisk the batter until it becomes airy and fluffy
-Season with salt and seasoning cube
-Preheat the oil and scoop the mixture by spoonfuls into the pan
-Fry till golden brown
How To Make Akara Burger:
-Slice your bread into slightly thick slices
-Grill the bread for a few minutes (if you don’t have a grill you can place the bread in a plain hot frying pan)
-After the bread has been grilled, place a slice of tomato and a bit of lettuce on a slice of bread, then put the fried Akara on top of that
-Place the other slice of grilled bread on the Akara, and you have yourself a perfect Akara burger
