The governor had called the workers, ‘senseless and brainless’, and also threatened that he would not pay for any period for which they did not work.
Well, his threats were bluffed on Thursday, as government workers all over the state refused to resume duties, though reports say that some workers were seen at the government secretariat, while majority did not turn up.
Almost all government parastatals and Offices were shut down and deserted.
It was also reported that, the strike was also geared at putting an immediate end to the contributory pension scheme.
The secretary to the state government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, stated that, strike is not the answer to the problems they have. He urged the workers to be reasonable and put into consideration the state of the economy nationwide. He also stated that an agreement had been reached between the workers and the government.
The Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Council JNC, Mr. Abiodun Olakanmi stated on television that, no agreement was reached between workers and the government.
