Henry Onyekuru has claimed the Most Promising Player of the Year award at the 64th Golden Shoe Gala in Belgium on Wednesday night ahead of Emmanuel Dennis of Club Brugge, Uche Agbo of Standard Liege, Samuel Kalu of Gent and Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi who plays for Mouscron, in 12th, 13th, 17th and 23rd positions.

The RSC Anderlecht striker who was not present at the gala ceremony, amassed 219 points from the votes counted to emerge winner ahead of Hassan Bandé with 162 points in second and Landry Dimata with 128 points in third.

Onyekuru who is on loan, has so far scored 9 goals from 19 appearances in the Belgian First Division A this season prior to his recent injury.

The Golden Shoe gala is sponsored by the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
