Oscar Isaac was slapped in the face 24 times by the late Carrie Fisher during the filming of Star Wars: The Last Jedi after it took a number of takes to perform a particular scene.
Footage from the filming of the scene in question will be included in the forthcoming Blu-ray release of The Last Jedi, which is set for release on March 27.
Speaking about that moment, Fisher said on the connection between her character and Isaac’s: “Poe is her protégé and in a way, I think she thinks of him as Han. He’s very dominating and he doesn’t listen to her, so we have some moments together,” she said. “There’s more feistiness this time. That I really like. Now, there’s Leia again.”
“That was one of the first things we shot and I think we did 24 takes,” Isaac recalls in the clip. “That was very surreal, to be slapped by Princess Leia repeatedly.”
