The holidays will soon be over and you’re probably thinking of taking a quick short break before you have to get back in to the rat race (or as we call it in Nigeria, the hustle).

Packing for such a trip can be stressful and it always begins with good intentions, and by the end you’re throwing in clothes you haven’t worn for years. The result is a suitcase that resembles the bend down select at Yaba market of everything must go. Avoid this and follow the Accelerate Fashion guide to packing like a pro.

1 ) THINK OUTFITS
Have a long hard think how you will be spending your days and make a list of outfits rather than assembling the so called useful items. Strike out items that don’t work from day to night unless you have a scheduled event with a specific dress code. Make sure you leave heels at home unless your going to visit St Tropez or another glamorous location.
2 ) TAKE YOUR BEST THINGS
That Maki Oh or Deola Sagoe dress you have been saving all year for a special occasion? Take it!
3 ) ROLL , DONT FOLD
Tried – and -tested by our Accelerate Editor: rolling saves more space than folding and prevents creasing. Anything seriously fragile or embellished should go in a garment bag and or be laid flat on top.

4 ) ONLY TAKE ONE PAIR OF JEANS
Any more is overkill. Wear them on the plane as they will add unnecessary weight to your case.
5 ) WEAR ALL YOUR JEWELLERY
And carry any extras in an evening bag to avoid losing them. Never put them in your check in luggage just in case something happens to that and it goes missing

6 ) STOCK UP ON BASIC MEDS
When your body relaxes, it often lets down its defences. Don’t let a cold running your holiday – pack Sudofed for the flight and stock up on tissues and painkillers at the airport
7 ) DON’T FOR GET YOUR COAT AT HOME OR LEAVE IT AT HOME
Depending on where you’re going, don’t forget to carry a coat if its cold at that time of the year, and if you’re going somewhere warm all you need are light sweaters.
