Reports from Premium Times have confirmed that, the Nigerian students who are studying under a Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) scholarship in Russia, have protested against the neglect they are being subjected to by the Nigerian government.
The students gathered at the Nigerian Embassy in Moscow bearing placards with bold inscriptions to ventilate their grievances lamented that, their $500 monthly allowance has not been paid by the FG for one year.
Gafai Usman, who is the Charge d’affairs of the Nigerian mission in Russia, was sympathetic with the students. He asked the students to put their grievances down in writing and stated that he would report the protest to the ministry of foreign affairs.
The parents of some of the students who gathered at the ministry of education lamented the state in which the FG has left their children, and pleaded with the FG to respond to the needs of the stranded students with alacrity.
It was also gathered that, the Ministry of Education is aware of the state of affairs but has no details yet of what the FG is doing concerning the students.
