Merseyside Police have revealed it was aware of the death threats being made to Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius after the Champions League final debacle.

The 24-year-old and his family have been the subject of threats after his two mistakes helped Benzema and Bale clinch a 3-1 win for Real Madrid over the Reds in Kiev on Saturday.

According to the Police, it read: “We take social media posts of this nature extremely seriously. Offences will be investigated. Officers are aware of a number of comments and threats made via social media.”

“Merseyside Police would like to remind social media users that any offences including malicious communications and threatening behaviour will be investigated.”

Karius has since taken to his instagram page to apologise to fans, players and staff of Liverpool as he was seen visibly in tears.
