Chelsea and Manchester City will renew their rivalry as they face each at Stamford Bridge in a crunchy tie at Stamford Bridge today.
Pep Guardiola will be the happier of the two coaches, because he drew his match against Arsenal on Sunday, while Conte lost to Crystal Palace.
In addition to Conte’s concerns, he will miss Victor Moses, who is ruled out with a toe injury. Guardiola has Bacary Sanya out injured while Pablo Zabaleta is back and he is expected to replace Jesus Navas at right-back.
The last time both teams faced each other was in December, when Manchester City lost 1 goal to 3 at home to Chelsea.
Diego Costa 60′, Willian 70′, and Hazard 90′ were the players who scored for Chelsea while Cahil scored an own goal for Man City in the 45th minute. City ended the match with 9 men after Aguero and Fernandinho saw red.
Commenting on the match, Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte said: “It’s normal that with 27 points available anything can happen in the league, but we are in a really good position. We haven’t had many days to prepare for this game but it’s the same for Man City. These teams have a clear identity. It won’t be easy because they are a very good team.”
On his part, Guardiola said, “Chelsea will be a big game and especially a big game away, it is important to learn from these kinds of games for the future. They play fewer games, they have more time to prepare. But Chelsea will be in Europe next year and they have the quality to compete. Chelsea deserves to be where they are, they have won a lot of games and deserve their position.”
Chelsea now leads the EPL with 69 points while Manchester City sits in the fourth position with 54 points.
