Protesters across Nigeria held candlelight services on Friday night to honor young Nigerians killed by members of the police unit, SARS.
In Lagos, massive crowds gathered around the Alausa area of the state and the Lekki Toll Gate, which have been the main converging points for those who have been demanding justice for the deceased. A similar event also took place in Abuja, and Port Harcourt.
Relatives of victims spoke about the death of their loved ones, and their names were read out in unison. With their stories being told, it has inspired others to come forward and show support for the movement.
The protesters started the session with Christians and Muslims praying for the souls of those that have been killed by men of SARS.
As sad as it all was, the candlelit crowd was a beautiful sight. Seeing the number of people that came out to honor those that passed away speaks volumes. Honestly, our heart goes out to the victims of police brutality and violence. We send our love and prayers to you all.
