Pusha-T has launched a new initiative to help free people who are currently serving life in prison under the 3 Strikes Drug Law.
Pusha-T announced the “Third Strike Coming Home” campaign, combining forces with lawyers MiAngel Cody and Brittany K. Barnett. Cody and Barnett have freed over 40 people sentenced to life in prison under federal drug laws, working with Kim Kardashian for some of them.
“This is way more than a song, it’s a movement!” Push wrote along with a clip of “Coming Home,” his new Lauryn Hill-assisted single dedicated to the initiative. “We are doing everything in our power to bring home men and women trapped behind the wall due to an outdated 3 strikes drug law.”
Push has launched the campaign with a $25,000 donation of his own and is encouraging others to follow suit with their own donations.
“Coming Home” will live on Push’s forthcoming album, which he confirmed in an interview with Beats 1’s Ebro Darden will be releasing soon. On the track, Ms Hill makes their intentions very clear.
“New plan, but it’s a new day/Black people past their due date/Settin’ the captives free in a new way/I’m coming home, I’m coming home, I’m coming home,” she sings.
