Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0 at the Bernabeu last night to win the Spanish Super Cup 5-1 on aggregate, making this their 10th Supercoppa title in history.

The Spanish and European champions were dominant, even without the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo who had his suspension appeal upheld by the Spanish FA.

Marco Asensio, who also scored in the 3-1 first-leg win, gave them an early lead with an awesome screamer from 25 yards that nailed Ter Stegen to the spot and from then on, it was all Real Madrid.

Benzema added a second with a great two-touch goal, turning Barca defender Samuel Umtiti. Real reduced their attacking pace allowing Barca to come forward.

However, it was proving difficult for Barcelona to reduce the four-goal deficit though they improved slightly as a result, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez hitting the woodwork.

The Zidane-era is gradually moving towards surpassing Pep Guardiola’s Barca record and with the pace the Galacticos are going, they seem quite unstoppable at the moment.

Also, it was Keylor Navas’s 100th appearance and Toni Kroos’s 150th appearance for Real Madrid respectively.
