On Friday, April 20, 2018, Swedish DJ and producer Avicii, was found dead in Muscat, Oman, with the cause of death still unknown. His real name was Tim Bergling, and he was 28 years old. Avicii  retired from touring in 2016 due to health reasons. He was one of the DJ’s that made EDM mainstream. Here are 5 essential Avicii songs that will jolt you awake to the loss his death has caused instantly!

The Nights   

From the album Stories, produced by Avicii and written by Nicholas Furlong, Gabriel Benjamin, Jordan SuecofJohn Feldmann and Avicii.

The song was inspired by the bars in Ireland, where they play folk music which is upbeat and easy to dance (and drink) to. 

This song is also Avicii’s contribution to the soundtrack of EA Sports FIFA 15

Waiting For Love 

This was the third single released from Avicii’s second studio album, StoriesThe song was produced by Avicii and Martin Garrix with Simon Aldred on the vocals. The video features an old man who falls asleep and, when he wakes up, can’t find his wife. He hops on his old motorized chair and drives all over town to find her. He later finds her in the end surrounded by a crowd of people cheering him on.

This EDM smash hit set the standard for an entire generation of club anthems when it first came out. Levels contains a vocal sample from the 1962 gospel-inspired song Something’s Got a Hold on Me by Etta James. The song was so good it later influenced Flo Rida to sample it for his own hit Good Feeling.

Hey Brother  

Hey Brother sees Avicii giving his brother advice, the EDM dance song by Avicii himself was from his debut studio album, True. It peaked at the top of the UK dance chart. The song would become Avicii’s final song to hit the top 40 before his death in 2018.

As of April 2018, Wake Me Up was the 37th most viewed video Youtube and Avicii most viewed video on Youtube Wake Me Up is the lead single for Avicii’s first studio album True and It features Aloe BlacThe song also broke all of Avicii’s personal records of sales, topping music charts in 22 different countries as well as breaking the top 10 mark in 6 others
