Atletico Madrid fullback Renan Lodi, has tested positive to Coronavirus and this would serve as a huge blow for the Spanish club on their plan to restart training for the senior players.
The Brazilian is asymptomatic but has been quarantined in his home to prevent him from coming into contact with his teammates.
La Liga is expected to resume the 2019-20 season in mid-June, with 11 rounds of games still to play and complete it this summer. The league has been suspended since March, along with all sporting activities worldwide due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The squad underwent COVID-19 testing on Wednesday morning at the La Liga club’s training ground in Majadahonda ahead of a return to individual sessions this weekend. A number of other players would be able to begin training after testing positive for antibodies.
The Brazilian full-back will be subjected to further testing in the coming days and will be allowed to rejoin training after two negative results, 72 hours apart, as set out in a protocol agreed by La Liga and Spain’s National Sports Council.
