Diego Costa was in an inspired form as he scored two more goals on Tuesday, leading the Blues to a crucial 4-2 victory over Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
The much needed win gave Chelsea a 7-point cushion over Tottenham who take on Crystal Palace later today.
Eden Hazard gave the Blues an early lead before Oriol Romeu equalized for Southampton but Gary Cahill much later increased the lead to make it 2-1 before half time.
Then came Diego Costa like an awoken dog from the dead as he scored a brace in the second half to peg scores at 4-1 before Ryan Bertrand scored a late consolation goal for the Saints to half the deficit.
As maligned as Diego Costa has been so far, it should be noted that his 19 goals this season have given Chelsea 15 points, which is more than any player has achieved this season.
Tottenham Hotspurs will hope to reduce the 7 points gap when they take on Crystal Palace away from home tonight.
