Former Real Madrid and Manchester City striker Robinho has been found guilty of the gang-rape of a 22-year-old Albanian lady in a Milanese disco in 2013 and given a nine-year sentence.
The Atletico Mineiro striker who was charged with five other men, was playing for AC Milan at the time of the incident, which took place on January 22, 2013.
Although this is a guilty verdict and a nine-year prison sentence awarded, the Italian justice system includes several levels of appeal, of which the verdict has been put on hold until the appeal process is completed and no sentence will be enforced until then.
Meanwhile, on Instagram Robinho published a statement saying he “already defended himself against the accusations, affirming that he did not participate in the episode” while stating that “all legal measures are being taken”.
