Colombia gave their World cup round of 16 qualification hopes a big lift after they overcame Poland 3-0 in yesterday’s Group H match.
Yerry Mina nodded in James Rodriguez’s cross shortly before half-time to give Colombia the lead before Radamel Falcao hit a strike in the second half for his first World Cup goal
Juan Cuadrado then added the third goal as he raced on to James’ sublime ball behind the Poland defence.
In the game preceding the Colombian game, Japan came twice from behind to draw 2-2 with Senegal.
Sadio Mane put Senegal ahead from close range after a mistake by Eiji Kawashima as his attempted punched clearance hit the Liverpool forward back into the net.
Japan drew level through Takashi Inui’s lovely curling finish before nineteen-year-old defender Moussa Wague gave the West Africans the lead.
The lead didn’t last long as substitute Keisuke Honda salvaged a point for Japan moments after coming on as he took advantage of a defensive blunder by the Senegalese defence.
