Sweden and England have both completed the last eight teams in the World cup after their respective wins yesterday.

Sweden beat Switzerland 1-0 to go through into the quarterfinal for the first time since 1994 after Emil Forsberg’s shot took a deflection off Akanji’s foot as he tried to clear.

Switzerland were later reduced to 10 men after Michael Lang was sent off being the last man at defence when he pushed Martin Olsson who was through on goal.

England on their part were made to work for their quarterfinal advance by Colombia after full time ended 1-1.

However in the ensuing penalty shootout, both Uribe and Bacca missed their penalties to send England through to the quarterfinal where they will face Sweden.
