It was pandemonium yesterday for both Mexico and Germany except that the former is still in the competition while the later was knocked out.

Mexico playing Sweden were shocked 3-0 with all goals coming in the second half after goalkeeper Ochoa was able to keep the Swedes at bay in the first half.

Ludwig Augustinsson capitalized on a lousy marking from the Mexican defence to smash home the opener ten minutes into the second half before Andreas Granqvist scored from the penalty spot twelve minutes later to make it 2-0.

All hope was then lost for any comeback when Edson Alvarez scored into his own net to make it 3-0.

Germany, on their own part couldn’t take advantage of the slip by Mexico after two late goals from South Korea condemned them to a second defeat and an elimination from the tournament for the first time since 1938.

The two goals were scored in the last six minutes of extra time by Kim Young-gwon and Son Heung-min.

Mexico will face Brazil while Sweden will face Switzerland in the last 16.
