We’ve been obsessed with this beauty for a while now but it was only after staring in the groundbreaking movie ‘Loving’ that she won the world. Ruth’s performance was simply outstanding as she acted alongside Joel Egerton to play an interracial couple who’s pursuit to be considered legally married in 1958 virginia became a landmark civil-rights case.
The Ethiopian-Irish actress, who currently shares a London flat with her actor boyfriend Dominic Cooper, has appeared in films like Capital Letters (2004), Isolation (2005), Breakfast on Pluto (2005), Warcraft and Loving (both 2016).
She has also played roles in television, such as in the BBC’s mini-series Criminal Justice, RTÉ’s Love/Hate, E4’s Misfits (where we first fell in love with her!), and ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In 2016 she begin a starring role as Tulip O’Hare in AMC’s Preacher; but her big break would come from ‘Loving’ which has been reviewed on Variety as “a humble, soft-spoken film, in which no one so much as raises his voice or weeps in the face of undeniable injustice”.
The movie has gotten a plethora of awards (including a Golden Globe) and we are beyond excited for her. Ruth is a gorgeous, talented woman of color and we can’t wait to see what she’ll get up to with her new found fame.
