At first glance, second glance and even third glance if I may say, Andrew Jones would pass for a hot, sassy and well-built dude- which he actually is, though with a butt.
Andrew Jones, a body builder from Connecticut first became ill in 2012 during his daily routine of running; he struggled to breath all through the run. He says about how he felt that day “It kind of felt like my lungs had turned into sponges. Like I was breathing through a sponge.”
Fast forward to two years later, Andrew started coughing up blood and developed a high fever eventually suffering heart failure. Doctors diagnosed him with cardiomyopathy – a hereditary disease of the heart muscle. He was told he would die if he didn’t get a transplant, he would die.
Unfortunately for him, there weren’t and still isn’t any available heart but fortunately, doctors were able to device a means to keep him alive – an artificial heart in a bag.
Even though he has to carry his heart around all day, Andrew is not relenting in his effort to live a fulfilling life by working which dwarfs the efforts of healthy persons who don’t keep up with the workout regime. To that end he uses his Instagram to spread a message of hope and life.
“Tomorrow’s not guaranteed for any of us,” Andrew said. “For someone in my situation, it’s guaranteed a lot less. … Two and a half, three years ago? I probably would’ve taken waking up in the morning for granted.”
He continues: “If there’s something that’s on your mind 24/7 that you can’t stop thinking about, you need to act on it, If there’s something that’s on your mind 24/7 that you can’t stop thinking about, you need to act on it. I want people to leave with a little more motivation than they came in with.”
