On April 27th, Malone’s album knocked off J. Cole’s K.O.D. which had 36.7 million streams for the most streamed album in 24 hours in the U.S. Post Malone broke Spotify’s day-one worldwide record for the popularity of a new album with 78,744,748 streams of Beerbongs & Bentleys. And just yesterday, Drake has shattered this record.
Drake’s double album Scorpion racked up total global streams of 132,384,203 within its opening 24 hours. According to Spotify, drake’s Scorpion album is currently being streamed at an impressive 10 million times per hour.
Drake has now earned 60 new platinum certifications, becoming highest certified digital singles artist to date. Drake has moved 148 million equivalent units as a lead artist. In addition to this, Scorpion, Drake’s fifth solo studio album, is already eligible for double-Platinum certification.
