Quitting sugar is not easy. In fact, research shows that sugar can be even more addicting than cocaine! But it is also highly harmful to the body when taken in excess. However, this doesn’t mean it is impossible to abdicate the sweet things that you eat which contain sugar. Here are tips to help you cut sugar out of your diet:
You will become more energetic
Sugar gives you an energy boost. But that boost only lasts for a few minutes. Then it’s followed by low energy and increased cravings for more sugar. This effect is caused by a sudden blood sugar spike, which is followed by a sudden blood sugar drop.
You will lose more weight
Sugar has no calories. Thus, it gives your body energy with no nutrients. Your total calorie intake will reduce once you quit sugar. In addition, you won’t experience blood sugar reduction which increases hunger.
You will have fewer cravings
Consuming sugar increases sugar cravings and appetite. When you eat sugar, insulin increases and then reduces, causing increased sugar cravings.
Sugar is closely linked with acne and inflammation. Research shows that inflammation ages the skin faster and causes different skin conditions. You may notice changes in clear skin and fewer wrinkles within two weeks.
You will experience less pain
Sugar detox will minimise inflammation and reduce chronic pain. Unsurprisingly, it’s common for people with chronic pain to experience more pain when they eat sugar.
