Okay, I’m not going to lie and say oh its just another day and nobody should care. It is Valentine’s day and it is okay to feel left out if you haven’t got a partner to celebrate with. But, what is not okay is to wallow in self pity. Being single on Valentine’s day can be a bummer, but it is not the worst thing in the world. In fact, you are kind of lucky, because you get to think of yourself more on this day of love. So on that note, here’s how to celebrate Valentine’s day as a single and thriving person:
Reflect: Yes, everyone is all about the love and the feeling, but you can be all about self love. Appreciate yourself. Think about how far you have come in life. All the good things you have been able to achieve for yourself and the plans you have for the future. If that doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what else will.
Take yourself out: Well, it has never been a crime to go to the movies, a beach house, vacation and more alone. So, if you really want to feel special, do something special for yourself. Really, the day should be all about you anyway.
Focus on making money: There is nothing more romantic than money, so focus on going to work and making more of it for yourself. Love is sweet, but money is sweeter. It is not a weekend, please get up and take advantage of all these love birds looking for how to make their significant other happy and make your money in the process.
Shoot your shot: Well, because you are single today, does not mean you have to remain single. If there’s a guy you are eyeing out there, today is the perfect excuse to shoot your shot, slide in a DM, make a move and who knows, you just might hit jackpot. The cheesiest pick up lines can work best on a day like this. The day is already cheesy enough as it is so nothing could be worse.
Hang out with your friends: Yeah, love is about friendship as well. So call your fellow single friends and make the day a memorable one for each other.
Family: Well, love begins at home, so please remember your family on a day like this. Call your loved ones and remind them how much you love them and hear them say it back to you. It could do a million and one things to your heart. If you have any cute little nieces or nephews, I can guarantee you their voices will make your day.
Netflix and chill: If you don’t have work or lectures, darling sit at home and enjoy yourself. Have a day off. Stretch your legs and watch Rom Coms and cry for the heart breaks and the happy endings. It is soothing as well.
Valentine’s is not just for the couples. Single people have so much to gain from it as well, so please be single and proud today and everyday. Cheers to an amazing Valentine’s day.
