Jaws drop. Homes are mortgaged.
Riri has become a regular on the Fashion week schedule all thanks to her collaborations with Puma and Manolo Blahnik (on a very crazy-successful shoe range).
Now guess what? Rihanna has taken the next step by flexing her design muscles in a different direction: fine jewelry.
The Work, work, work singer has partnered Chopard, the Swiss luxury jewelry and watch brand, on Haute Joaillerie and Joaillerie collections.
“I have always been in love with Chopard’s exquisite jewelry, so to actually design collections with them is something I still can’t believe. It was a really incredible process and I learned so much. I can’t wait for everyone to see it,” Rihanna said.
The 29-year-old singer worked closely with Chopard’s co-president and creative director, Caroline Scheufele on pieces that “blend urban chic with classic glamour.”
Reports have it that the two collections were inspired by Rihanna’s island roots- the lush gardens of Barbados and the electricity of Carnival.
The first drop is a minimalist geometric Joaillerie collection, which features nine pieces crafted from 18 carat ethical rose gold mixed with jungle green, a shade hand-picked by Rihanna. And it will be unveiled in full later this month.
Pieces will be available for purchase in June, with pre-orders online at chopard.com.
The second range is the haute Joaillerie collection, which will debut in May 2017 as part of the 70th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival, to celebrate Chopard’s 20th year as official partners of the world-famous film event.
Rihanna gave us a preview at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, wearing a pair of floral chandelier earrings and a marquise-cut diamond ring from the capsule collection.
“Rihanna and I collaborated closely on the collections so you can feel her unstoppable energy, strong creativity, and inherent sense of design in every piece. With her unique style she redefines the way people see and wear jewellery,” says the brand.
