Leganes will wear a specially designed purple shirt this weekend when they host La Liga leaders Barcelona in support of victims of gender violence.
The match will take place a week before the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, as part of a Spanish government initiative also supported by Barcelona who backed the initiative.
The Madrid-based side also launched an awareness campaign ahead of the game featuring defender Joseba Zaldúa with the slogan “defend your colours.”
The purple shirts – the colour most associated with the international campaign against gender violence – will also feature the words “#NoAlaViolenciaDeGénero (no to gender violence) on the collar, together with a pink ribbon.
