Super Bolt wins eighth Olympics gold medal
Jamaica’s Usain Bolt has won his second gold medal at the Rio 2016 and his eight overall gold medal at the Olympics.
Bolt won the 200m final, with an impressive 19.78 seconds to beat Canadian star Andre De Grasse and France’ Christophre Lemaitre.
The 29-year old has won the 100m gold at Rio and now the 200m gold. He will compete with his teammates as he hopes to seal a treble with the 4 X 100m relay on Sunday.
Mikel blames “luck” for Germany defeat
All hopes of Nigeria replicating the final of 20 years ago and claiming the gold for the Men’s football event in the Olympics was dashed when Nigeria lost 2-0 to Germany.
Germany came into the match with a well drafted tactical plan and outclassed Nigeria but Mikel Obi says they were unlucky and this lead to their loss.
“We gave everything last night but luck wasn’t on our side,” the Chelsea star tweeted on Thursday. We will keep going for bronze, to make Nigeria proud.”
Nigeria will hope to win the bronze medal as they play Honduras on Saturday, before Brazil and Germany face off for gold.
Iheanacho signs new Manchester City deal
Talented Nigerian youngster Iheanacho has penned a new deal with the Citizens after an impressive performance last season.
The announcement was made on the club’s website, see what the statement said below:
“Striker Kelechi Iheanacho has signed a new two-year contract extension with City,” the Manchester City website announced on Thursday.
“The 19-year-old Nigeria international, who scored 14 times in all competitions last season, is one of the game’s’s finest young forwards and will now stay with the Club until at least 2021.”
Iheanacho, who was one of the players that impressed Pellegrini and now Guardiola, could not contain his excitement at singing a new deal with the club.
“I can’t express how I’m feeling! I’m very happy to sign my new deal for this Club, I’m excited.
“I just need to keep working hard and express my feelings on the pitch, and work really well and do great things for the team. I’m happy and I appreciate everything the Club has done for me so far at this point so I really need to help and work for them as well.”
Big clubs target Brazil’s Luan
23-year old Luan is the prime target for top clubs, who are eager to snap the talented forward who plays for Gremio.
Liverpool, Leicester City and Rennes are some of the club’s interested in Luan and it is reported that the chase has been heightened even more, with his impressive performance at the on going Olympics.
Luan is rumored to be set for an English move, especially since he is being linked to clubs like Liverpool and Leicester City.
