Ronaldo showers praises on Zinedine Zidane
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, is not shy about giving credit to coach Zinedine Zidane, who he says contributed largely to his success last season.
It’s no secret that Ronaldo did not get along with former coach Rafael Benitez, with many calling what they had an uneasy relationship. However, the exit of Benitez brought about Zindane in January and he went on to seal a successful season for Los Blancos.
Though Real Madrid finished just a point short of Barcelona and lost out on the La Liga title, their impressive feat of 12 straight wins is one to be commended. Though they lost out on the domestic league, they more than made up for that by clinching the prestigious Champions League.
Ronaldo who is the best contender for the European player of the year award, along with winning the UCL, he also won the Euro 2016 cup with Portugal for the first time and he says he owes his success and impressive form to Zidane.
“We didn’t start well last season, but the end was happy,” Ronaldo told 24sata. “I think everything improved with Zidane’s arrival. We won the Champions League and I was top scorer and that was probably one of the best seasons in my career.“
TRANSFERS: Bravo undergoes medical at Manchester City
Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, has just undergone medical at Manchester City ahead of his switch to the club.
If the deal falls through Bravo will be earning €6 million per annum, double what he was earning at Barcelona.
Bravo is being brought in to serve as a replacement for Joe Hart, who failed to impress Guardiola and is now considered to be second choice keeper. It is expected that Hart will try to seal a deal with another club before the transfer window closes, in order to get regular playing time.
City may delay the announcement of Bravo a few days, as Barcelona is unlikely to agree to a deal until they sign Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen as his replacement.

I have earned the Ballon D’Or award – Griezmann
Atletico Madrid star forward Antoinne Griezmann, says he is the best candidate to win the prestigious European Player of the year award after his success for both club and country in the past couple of months.
Though the 25-year old tipped Cristiano Ronaldo to win, after the Real Madrid star led Portugal to win Euro 2016, it appears he has now had a change of heart as the award ceremony draws near.
“I am proud to be a finalist, that means I am on the right track and have to continue that way,” Griezmann told 24sata.
“I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I deserve this award because I’ve had a great season with both club and the national team. It has been unforgettable season, first in the Champions League with Atleti, then Euros with France. Unfortunately, we didn’t win a trophy and it was a blow for us, as well for our fans.“
The competition is quite steep this year, with at least three of the finalists: Ronaldo, Bale and Griezmann having impressed for their clubs and national teams. Who do you think will win the award?
