Sports Ministry refunds Mikel Obi’s $4600 hotel payment
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has refunded team captain Mikel Obi, the money he paid to bailout the team during their hotel mix-up in São Paulo, just before the quarter-finals.
In a press release by the Nigeria Football Federation, the football body admitted to being unable to pay the hotel bills and praised Mikel Obi for stepping up to pay the bill.
Despite the many obstacles they have faced, the Dream Team, against all odds, have qualified for the semi-finals and will play against Germany on Wednesday. Ohaa said: “I am happy to be a Nigerian, because in spite of all the challenges, you have taken the world by storm; you have by your performance given happiness to more than 160 million Nigerians. Football is the biggest unifying factor in Nigeria today. From Mr. President to the average Nigerian you have made everyone proud today.”
“I am humbled by your efforts, your commitment, your patriotism. I want to assure you that your sacrifices will not be in vain. Aside whatever the NFF have for you, we will as much as possible make you happy, if only you will be patient with us. Today, with your performance, I am convinced that you will get that gold.”
Mikel Obi spoke on behalf of the team and said: “We want to thank you for your fatherly support. In truth, there have been a lot of challenges, but every time we go onto the field, we forget about everything and make sure our fatherland comes first. We have done that so far and we will continue to do that, but we need more motivation.”

Coutino brace seals thrilling win for Reds against Gunners
In what many have called the most thrilling match of the weekend, Liverpool defeated Arsenal in a spectacular fashion.
It was Theo Walcott that opened up the scoring at the Emirates stadium, in the 31st minute, after wasting a spot kick moments before.
Phillipe Coutino leveled the score, after converting a pass from Adam Lallana, just after the break.
Adam Lallana gave Liverpool the lead with a 46th minute strike, just a minute after Coutino’s goal. Impressive Coutino, who was easily the man of the match, found the back of the net again and not long after, new recruit Sadio Mane, scored the final goal for Liverpool
4-1 and we thought it was all over but the English Premier League is nothing, if not unpredictable. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, scored an impressive second goal for Arsenal and Calum Chambers scored the third for the gunners moments after with an impressive header.
It was not enough, as they were unable to score more goals and lost at home to Liverpool.
