Robben to miss Netherlands qualifiers

Netherlands have suffered a huge blow ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Their star player Arjen Robben, has been forced to the sidelines as a result of injury, the team coach Danny Blind has revealed.

Netherlands are set to face Belarus and then France, as they begin their World Cup campaign but this recent news about Robben, will definitely be morale dampener for the team.

The 32-year old had just returned from a long injury spell, which left him sidelined all through the season but it has been revealed that he suffered a rib injury during Bayern Munich’s draw against Cologne over the weekend.

“I spoke to Arjen this morning, he’s not coming – he’s not fit and that is unfortunate,” Blind said of the 32-year-old.

“We will have to do without him. That is now clear, and we know where we stand. He does just not feel fit yet. We knew it would be difficult for him.

“We hoped that we could take advantage of that extra quality he brings. Unfortunately that is not the case. We will have to do without him.”

Oranje, only managed to seal 1 point, in their opening group game against Sweden. They must seal a win if they are to stand any chance at securing a World Cup ticket.
