A professional massage therapist is suing Stan Lee, accusing him of sexual misconduct during two massage sessions in April 2017.
The 95-year-old is best known as the creator of iconic superheroes such as Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man and the X-Men.
According to reports, Maria Carballo recently filed a suit against Lee and his assistant, Mac Anderson. She is seeking over $50,000 in punitive damages and attorney fees.
Lee is accused of fondling himself, moaning loudly and grabbing Carballo’s foot and touching it against his genitals.
“For a long time, I was afraid to ask anyone to help me hold Mr. Lee accountable for how he treated me. He is rich and famous. I am not,” Carballo said in a statement.
“After seeing other women fight to be treated with dignity and respect, I decided, #MeToo. I am still nervous and afraid, but not as much as I was before because I have other people helping me.”
Lee’s attorney, Jonathan Freund has called the lawsuit “a shakedown” and denied the claim.
Carballo has also filed a criminal complaint with Chicago police, who are investigating the allegations. Carballo’s complaint involves five counts: assault, battery, violation of the Illinois Gender Violence Act, emotional distress and civil conspiracy.
In January, Lee was accused of sexually assaulting and harassing nurses who cared for Lee at his Los Angeles home.
