Students of Isale Community High School in Oyo Town set fire to their blocks of classrooms on Thursday, as a way of venting their anger over the new promotion policy set by the Oyo state government.
The said policy is that, only pupils with 50 per cent in Mathematics and English Language would be promoted to the next class.
It is reported that, in line with the new policy, there was mass failure, which gave rise to the violent protest by students.
Similar threats have streamed from other schools in Oyo state.
It was initially reported that, on Monday, based on the same reasons, students of Anglican secondary school in Oyo, attacked their teachers and destroyed billboards bearing Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s picture.
The commissioner for education, Adeniyi Olowofela said he will speak on the issue later.
