We love feminism here at Accelerate. Girl power and all of that good stuff. But the thing is, there seems to be a mixture of what exactly femininity means. So we decided to google it. We honestly are convinced that the answer we got is a total joke.
THE QUALITY OF BEING FEMALE; WOMANLINESS- “SHE CELEBRATES HER FEMININITY BY WEARING MAKE UP AND HIGH HEELS”
Like say what??? Are they freaking kidding us? Hold up, say the last bit one more time- “she celebrates her femininity by wearing make up and high heels”… Errrrrrr is that it!?
So is that the only way a woman can celebrate her femininity? The Accelerate Fashion team was totally shocked that this is the official example sentence in a google definition. And we didn’t pull it from just one source oh. It was many- including the Oxford Dictionary.

In this our ‘great’ country, the ideology that a woman’s role is just to look
pretty and mange the home or to just look after her husband and the kids is one that I not only don’t approve but can’t understand how any 21st century woman can subscribe to. The question of what femininity is today is much more complicated than mere high heels and makeup. Women celebrate femininity through many varied way- they celebrate in how they chose to present themselves, be it in those spectacular heels, hi-top trainers or ordinary bathroom slippers self.
So the next time a guy makes a misogynistic statement towards you or any woman, forget about heels and makeup and make sure you put them in their place!!!
