Bobby Schmurda and Tekashi 6ix9ine are young rappers who have contributed their quota to the rap game. However, one thing that they have in common is that they have both been convicted and are currently serving time.

While Bobby Schmurda was sentenced to 7 years behind bars in 2016 after pleading guilty to third-degree conspiracy and weapon possession and is likely to be released in December 2020.  Tekashi 6ix9ine was sentenced to two years in prison on charges related to gang activity in New York.

This said, the path to the conviction and sentencing of both rappers is where the story of this writeup lies.  Bobby Schmurda had everything and he even had a hit song hot n*gga. But his arrest and connection with members of his GS9 appear to have been his downfall.

The arrests were the result of an intensive investigation of GS9’s criminal activities. Police had tied the members of GS9 to a number of criminal activities ranging from shooting indiscriminately at crowds in public places to dealing crack and starting gang wars in Brooklyn.

The rather interesting part is that Schmurda accepted two years of stay in prison to ensure that one of his best friends in his GS9 crew-Rowdy Rebel got a lesser sentence. Bobby did not snitch on his friends and gang members.

Meanwhile, this was not the case with Tekashi 6ix9ine. In fact, he was the prosecution’s star witness in a racketeering and firearms case against members of his former crew, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. As a result of his testimonies, it led the police to round up as many gang members as possible. Even the leader Nine Trey Gangsta Aljermiah Mack aka Nuke was sentenced to 17 years imprisonment.

As of today, 6ix9ine’s release is imminent as fears of coronavirus have earned him his freedom. However, his freedom comes with a lot of palpable fear as a handful of people won’t mind harming the rapper because he snitched. The rapper is even well aware of this as he has planned to hire guards to protect him.

As for Bobby Schmurda, his loyalty to his hood and a rare show of bravery, have won him more fans as many can’t wait for him to be released from jail and for him to go back to what he knows how to do best-rap, rap, and rap.
