Either technique can leave your natural curls looking great. A wash and go can be great for someone on the go. However, although it takes time, a great twist out can help create the illusion of defined curl if your curl pattern is not as defined.

Wash and Go

Cleanse with conditioner (co-wash), then detangle with a wide tooth comb. This is a lot easier to do when your hair is weighed down with conditioner.

Make sure to get rid of all the dirt in your hair, taking extra time with your scalp to get rid of any dandruff.

Then pack on the leave-in-conditioner and mix in gel.

The Twist–out

After detangling, part hair in the front the way you want it. Either a middle or side part.

I like to start form the front twisting 2 strands of hair in each section of hair. I normally use Shea Moisture’s Coconut & hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie to lock in those twists. I pack on the product, leaving the excess to sink in while I do the twisting.

The smaller the twists, the tighter the curls. Leave the twists in overnight, making sure to cover them with a satin scarf.

Take out of the twists the following morning. Be gentle when removing the twists to prevent frizz.
