The Lion King dominated box office this weekend, earning an estimated $185 million in its domestic debut. It grossed another $346 million internationally. The film, which is a reboot of the studio’s 1994 animated classic, has made an estimated $531 million worldwide in 10 days of release.lion kingThat $185 million bow is the second biggest domestic opening weekend of 2019 behind Avengers: Endgame. It’s also a record for a PG-rated film and for the month of July.

The Lion King also dethroned 2017’s Beauty and the Beast for the biggest opening weekend for Disney remakes of their animated classics.
