The Olive, an Accelerate TV original, was shot and directed by Yemi ‘Filmboy’ Morafa. The series follows the lives of Anayo Dike and his family, after the death of his wife, Ehi.
Episode 1, commences at the one year remembrance ceremony of Ehi, as friends and family gather to share their memories of her as a loyal wife, mother and companion. In between speeches, and as the episode continues, the audience is introduced to the different characters of the series, who will play important roles, in the story, as it unfolds.
Why you should watch:
This is quality television, that’s created for us, by us. The Olive is a slow burner which means that you don’t know exactly what you’re getting into when you start watching it. Think of Breaking Bad or Ozark, where nothing is really as it seems and then by episode 3 or 4 you’re totally hooked because you don’t know what’s coming next. This series showcases the talent of Nigerian writers, and their depth. It moves the audience away from storylines they have become used to watching, over the years.
Who’s in it?
This series has some big names. Joke Silva, a Nollywood powerhouse plays ‘Madam Elaine’. She isn’t the main character, but is vital to the storyline. Ibrahim Suleiman plays ‘Anayo Dike’ the lead character, alongside Bolaji Ogunmola, Theresa Edem, Sigilola Ogidan, Chico Aligweke and heartthrob, Mawuli Gavor.
