What were you doing at age 11? I bet you were only bothered about school homework and what cartoons were airing on TV. Yeah me too. But Waris Olamilekan Kareem at age 11 was presenting a portrait he drew to the President of France.

Kareem Waris Olamilekan is a Nigerian artist inspired by the works of Michelangelo and fellow portraitist Arinze Stanley Egbengion. Olamilekan received worldwide recognition after drawing a hyper realistic portrait of French president Emmanuel Macron in just two hours during his visit to Fela Kuti’s New African Shrine in Lagos Nigeria.

Kareem primarily uses pencils to create artworks of his friends, family even portraits of popular figures and celebrities. He also uses ballpoint pens, pastels and paint for some of his drawings. Olamilekan also known as Waspa attends Ayowole Academy of Art in Lagos created by Adeniyi Adewale who is an Art graduate.

Adeniyi believes Kareem has immense talent and potential to become a great artist just like his role model Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. Olamilekan has big dreams, he wants to see his artworks in museums around the world.
