The 61st edition of the Grammy Awards is coming up in a few days time and there’s always a first time for everything. Not all talented artists get the chance to win the Grammy’s and that’s the sad reality of the awards sometimes but lets hope these ones on our list get to win their first award.Cardi B

2017 was the year of ‘Bodak Yellow’ and the year Cardi announced herself on the music scene as a bonafide superstar. The song got her a Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song nominations at the Grammy. In October 2012, SZA self-released her debut EP, ‘See.SZA.Run’ and she hasn’t looked backed since then, her biggest break however wasn’t until she release her critically acclaimed debut ‘Ctrl’. The album got her Grammy nods including Best R&B Performance, Best new Artist and Best R&B Song. This year she’s nominated for 4 Grammy awards, hopefully she wins her first.

J Cole

2019 nominations (2)

Best R&B song (“Come Through and Chill”),

Best rap/sung performance (“Pretty Little Fears”)

J Cole has been nominated for seven Grammy’s and hasn’t won a single one. The Nas curse maybe? Well…we hope not. After bagging his first nomination in 2011, his 2019 collaboration with Miguel and 6lack have earned him nominations so lets hope the talented rapper can win something

Ariana Grande

2019 nominations (2)

Best pop vocal album (Sweetener),

Ariana totally owned 2018 and so far her success has spilled into 2019 with her hit song ‘7 Rings’ and breaking all sorts of streaming and billboard records. The anticipation for her album is already through the roof and if you didn’t think she was a star before, I bet you do now. In 2014 she was nominated for best pop vocal album with ‘My Everything’ and 2016’s ‘Dangerous Woman’ so it’s hard to believe she hasn’t won a Grammy. Could this be her year?

Back Street Boys

Total nominations: 8

2019 nominations (1)

Best pop duo/group performance (“Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”)

With over 100 million records sold and 8 nominations, Backstreet boys are undoubtedly one of the greatest boy bands ever. 2000 was their peak year with 5 nominations but they didn’t win any. Their smash hits “I Want It That Way,” “Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely” and “Shape of My Heart were snubbed by the Grammy. Fast-forward 2019 with ‘Don’t go breaking my Heart’, 2019 could just be it for them.
