We don’t know what to make of this story but it sounded so absurd we just had to publish it. A man in India said he spent two months swallowing knives and he had to undergo surgery to have 40 of them removed from his stomach. Even the doctors were nervous according to his doctor, Dr. Malhotra he said;
“We were so nervous… a small mistake could have taken the patient’s life. In my 20 years of practice, I have never seen anything like it.”
Malhotra said it took his team about two days to form a diagnosis and surgery plan.
The 42-year father of two told CNN that he constantly has an urge for knives. As in, the urge you have for pancakes, ice-cream, cake e.t.c he has the same urge… but to swallow knives.
“I don’t know why I used to swallow knives,” the patient told CNN. “I just enjoyed its taste and I was addicted … like how people get addicted to alcohol and other things, my situation was similar.”
His doctor believe he has a very rare mental disorder that most likely has not been published in any international medical journal. But in order to avoid more surgery, Dr Malhotra and his team gave him some advice — “we told him if you ever feel like you need more iron in your body, try spinach.”
We wanna judge but I mean, at the end of the day- to each his own.
