The game had entered four minutes of stoppage time  with the game still in the balance and thus penalties were looking like a great possibility but them substitute the Egyptian Ahmed Elmohamedy sent over a superb cross for countryman Trezeguet to drill a far-post finish

The scenes that followed were incredible as the Villa fans invaded the pitch, as they reached their first showpiece final since the FA Cup in 2015 when they lost 4-0 to Arsenal.

Villa – will have to face either Manchester City or Manchester United in the final which will be decided later tonight – City go in with a 3-1 win on aggregate and will probably be Villas opponents unless Ole’s men can pull off something special

This will be Villa’s first EFL Cup final since 2010, when they lost to Manchester United. We could be in for something rather poetic 10 years after.
