The 2019/2020 Champions League season kicked off yesterday with exciting matches across Europe.
Defending champions Liverpool failed to get their season to a good start as they were beaten 2-0 by Napoli in Naples.
The Carlo Ancelotti-led side opened the scoring late in second half through Dries Mertens before Fernando Llorente doubled the lead in the 92nd minute.
In Stamford Bridge, Chelsea fell 1-0 to Valencia on their return to the Champions League. Ross Barkley missed a penalty in the 87th minute to deny Chelsea a draw.
In Germany, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona drew blanks in their Champions League tie. Ter Stegen was the hero of the night as he stopped a Marco Reus penalty in the second half.
