It was goals galore in Slovenia as Liverpool became the English club to score that many away from home in the tournament after a 7-0 routing of Slovenian champions Maribor.


The pair of Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino combined to put Liverpool three goals up in the first half.

The Firmino-Salah combination struck again with the former turning provider after winning possession and playing in the winger who then struck the ball past goalkeeper Jasmin Handanovic.

From then on it was Firmino, Oxlade Chamberlain scoring his first goal for the Reds and then Trent Alexander-Arnold albeit by a deflection, all running riot in the second half to condemn Maribor to their heaviest defeat this season.

At the Bernabeu, current champions of Spain, Europe Real Madrid could only settle for a draw with a spirited Tottenham.

Even though Real Madrid dominated for much of the period, they could not break down the resilient defence of Spurs.
