Manchester United teenage sensation Marcus Rashford, now dubbed “the new Lion King of Old Trafford” was the hero of the day last night as his well taken free-kick ensured that the Red Devils take the advantage going into the second leg at Old Trafford.
Pogba and Bailly made it to the starting line-up as ‘the Special One’ Jose Mourinho changed his formation just before kick-off using a 4-1-4-1 line-up, thereby putting Ander Herrera as a shield for the defence.
This worked, as the trio of Aspas, Guidetti and Sisto found it difficult penetrating the defence up until Rashford performed his magic.
The 19-year old committed Mallo to a foul and then scored the resultant free-kick in the 67th minute, taking everyone by surprise.
Up till this moment, Monaco’s youngster Kylian Mbappe Lottin had always made the limelight with his performances in both ligue1 and Europe. After all he has scored a stunning 19 goals in all competitions which is rather too surprising for an 18-year-old but Marcus Rashford is proving to be the next teenager to take Europe by storm and is said to fill the shoes left by Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
At the beginning of the season, many saw experienced forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the messiah (after all he said he was a god) but Rashford having repaid the trust put on him by Mourinho has banished that opinion going by his recent performances.
At 19, many can say that the future is bright at Old Trafford and with the rate at which the young lad develops by each game, then for sure the future is really secured.
The second leg comes up on May 10 at Old Trafford.
