Jaha Marie Dukureh, the UN women’s right activist was tapped to be The New Face Of L’oreal.

This is the highest form of exclusivity and uplifting of women and I’d tell you why.

“When young people unite, we create magic”

Born in Gambia, Jaha Dukureh is a leader in the global movement to end the female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage she suffered as a girl.

Long story short, this 29-year-old is clearly different from the usual L’oreal ambassadors such as actresses like Eva Longoria and Julia Roberts.

She founded Safe Hands for Girls, a nonprofit organization designed to end the practices and provide a safe space for survivors.

5 years ago, L’Oréal Paris recognized Dukureh as a Woman of Worth, awarding her organization funding to continue to grow and impact lives.

Jaha is the first recipient of this award to become a L’oreal global brand ambassador and I couldn’t be more elated.

“To join L’Oréal Paris is also the L’Oréal Paris family joining me

in my fight to empower women to defend their rights”

 “Signing a contract with the No. 1 beauty brand supports my conviction — FGM does not define me, nor any woman, even as we live with its impacts.”

Dukureh will make her official L’Oréal Paris debut this year in the campaign for Color Riche,

the line of bold makeup for lips, eyes, and nails.

Jaha took to her Instagram to announce the L’oreal ambassadorship to her followers;

” Over the years, many have seen my relationship and partnership with @lorealparis.

My journey so far has been incredible but even I couldn’t believe this dream will ever become a reality and today it has.

I am so happy to announce that I am joining the #Loreal family as the newest international spokesperson.

I am grateful for the opportunity and I want the young women following me here to know that this is attainable for them.

I am still in shock but my good friend @juliencalot told me it will be a good ride.

Thank you Julien and the entire Loreal and McCann family for this. 🙏🏽🙏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️”
