Apple CEO Tim Cook on Wednesday September 7 announced the release of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, along with the Apple Watch Series 2 and a set of wireless headphones called AirPods.
We were given a sneak peak at the phone and the tech giant known for innovation and creativity with every release did not disappoint their teeming customer as the iPhone 7 came with new features such as a camera with a “dual lens” system that allows for improved long-range photos, a redesigned pressure-sensitive home button, splash + water + dust resistance casing. The biggest change is Apple eliminating the use of the headphone jack and replacing it with earphones that connect through the phone’s charging port.
Ditching the headphone jack has created the biggest buzz from iPhone aficionados with a lot of complaints on tech hangouts and social media about letting go of headphone jacks but this is not the first time Apple creates a new normal. The pricey phone comes with a an immersive stereo speaker, a better battery life than iPhone 6 and beautiful new colour variants jet black, black, gold, silver and rose gold. It can be pre-ordered from September 9, and should be available from early October but who knows as “Naija no dey carry last”, we may have the IPhone 7 here sooner than we expect.
